Climate change has introduced uncertainty and unpredictability into many aspects of existence on the planet, including the conditions for knowledge-making in institutions like university. The sciences and the humanities are being challenged and destabilized in ways that are both frightening and exhilarating for knowledge-makers and artists. We will discuss this unfolding state of affairs, in the larger context of the radical “turns” that have made the past five decades an extraordinary period of intellectual and creative ferment.
